A welcome donation in kind

Thrilled about the warm winter beanies.

In a newsletter in August 2024, we reported on the cold winter experienced in Soshanguve. Many people had built fires in front of their shacks in the evenings to keep warm. One reader, a young lady, was particularly moved by the picture of the grandfather with his grandchildren by the fire. Wanting to help these children, she motivated several women to join her in knitting 70 beanies in different colours and sizes. During our last visit to the centre in April 2025, we handed out the beanies to the children just in time for winter.

All the children were very happy and loved the warm beanies. They were excited about the
gift, but what impressed them most was that people far away and without knowing them had
gone to so much trouble for them. They expressed their gratitude by singing and laughing
happily.
