Our Partnerships

Years of loyalty and identification

We are thankful for the continuing loyalty of our numerous sponsors (individuals, foundations and organisations), as well as their identification with our work, established over many years. This has been the cornerstone in forming a solid and vital partnership for House of Encouragement.

Our work is carried out exclusively for the needy children in South Africa. Therefore, our key strategic partners are South African organisations.

NBI

NBI is a voluntary coalition of South African and multinational companies, which was launched in 1995 by the former President Nelson Mandela.

NBI is working towards long-term growth and development in South Africa and the shaping of a sustainable future through responsible business action, thereby demonstrating business action for sustainable growth.

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) has always been a key strategic priority for the NBI, as it has the potential to make an important contribution to sustainable economic and social development in South Africa.

The partnership with NBI enables House of Encouragement to achieve its objective of expanding opportunities for young people from Soshanguve for entry level vocational training, employment and further learning.

The Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa

SSHAP, the Swiss-South African Hospitality Apprenticeship Program, has been initiated by the Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa and is implemented in partnership with the National Business Initiative NBI. The program enjoys the support of the Swiss Ambassador to South Africa, Dr. Nicolas Brühl, who attended the first graduation of SSHAP apprentices in November 2019.

The Swiss Embassy is represented in the project Committee of the "Apprenticeships" where also technical training programs from NBI and House of Encouragement are monitored.

Tshwane North TVET College

Tshwane North TVET College offers a fit-for-purpose curriculum to prepare young apprentices for employment and learning pathways and issues the graduates a recognized certificate.

NBI is working to ensure that the curriculum is also officially recognised by the Department for Higher Education and Training.

Several subsidiaries of internationally renowned Swiss companies operating in South Africa, such as Geberit und Lindt, also support House of Encouragement South Africa NPC.
